Our default: document the work, not the recipient

Future media should focus on supplies, preparation, public resources, consenting volunteers, and de-identified results. A person's hardship is not a marketing asset, and a dramatic image is never more important than safety or dignity.

Requirements before any person appears

• Explain who is recording, the exact image or story, where it may appear, how long it may remain public, and that the internet can copy it.
• Obtain informed, specific, documented permission without pressure. Receiving aid must never depend on consent.
• Do not publish minors, people in acute distress, or anyone who may not be able to make an informed choice.
• Offer a genuine no-photo path and honor withdrawal where practicable, while explaining that copies already made by others may be impossible to retrieve.
• Review voices, names, tattoos, clothing, companions, signs, landmarks, and background details for indirect identification.
• Remove embedded location and device metadata before upload; do not publish exact encampment, sleeping, or service locations.

Publication review

Every item must have a private consent record, a named reviewer, accessible alternative text, a factual caption, a publication date, and a retention or review date. Synthetic or staged imagery must be labeled clearly and must never be presented as evidence of real outreach or impact.
